Same day work out

If my upper body work out gets interrupted in the morning, can I finish in the evening? For instance if I have already done chest presses, in the morning, can I do push ups in the evening. should I already be resting and rebuilding the muscle instead of tearing it sown again?

You can split the workout, but I would not do the same thing in the am as the pm

Like if it is a chest and tris day, hit chest in the am and tris in the PM
