How to maintain fitness in lower back spasms

Hello. I am Sagar from India.I hurted my back while doing some seated row in the gym in feb,11.Till now the pain arises some times in the lower back.My DOC said to avoid strain,not to bend and to avoid long journeys.Can you suggest some workout regimen which will help me keep the extra fat off my body during this phase? Thanx in advance.
