Q: What would you prefer as a good pre-workout supplement. Im working hard in the gym and using 1.M.R by BPI Sports but i keep seeing new stuff coming out and wanted to know whats the best stuff for a awesome pump.

A: Although there are several pre-workout products on the market, like 1.M.R by BPI Sports, more than ever I “roll my own”. That is, I prefer to look for specific ingredients to combine pre-workout that will increase my ability to lift heavier weights, for more reps and more sets––which is the foundation of an awesome pump. More importantly, doing more work is key to making gains in size, strength and improved body composition. The following list of pre-workout ingredients will make a perfect pre-workout cocktail plus they have scientific studies backing then up: Creatine Monohydrate––3-5 grams Beta Alanine––3.2 grams Caffeine––200-300mgs BCAA’s (2-1-1 ratio)––3-5 grams

You can find these items separately in your local health food store and mix them in a Gatorade Zero for some electrolytes (take the caffeine as coffee or pills). You can also find these ingredients in some of the existing pre-workout supplements currently on the market, but you may be paying for “pixy dust” levels of ingredients you want and some that don’t do squat.

Good luck,
