Getting Weaker

For 3 weeks now, I’ve been following the Rockhard Challenge workouts that the MF magazine has been publishing. While I’m noticing some changes in my physique I have been losing strength on a weekly basis. This decrease in strength has been most noticeable in my shoulders and triceps. I’m 21 years old, 5'9" and 173lbs. My nutrition is fairly solid. I average about 275 grams of protein, 200-220 grams of carbs, and about 80 grams of fat a day. I’ve been taking glutamine and creatine before and after workouts, as well as 1 scoop of whey isolate and 1 scoop of regular whey protein after workouts. Any suggestions you to help me with this problem would be great. Thanks!

With any new program it is normal to get weaker in the beginning meso-cycle of the program- 2-3 weeks. This is due to the body being put through a rate of change. Typically you should start gaining strength again once your body has had a chance to adapt to the workouts. You might want to up your calories a bit by adjusting your carbs. Consuming 27g g of protein and weighing 175lbs. means that you body only truly utilizes 1.2 g of protein per pound of body weight. Even though Protein builds muscle, your lack of strength could be a result of depletion of glycogen stores with the intensity of the program. Carbs are essential. A good pre-workout snack is an apple with some peanut butter. Also consider taking Vitargo as well for a supp.
