The Dumbbell Side lateral raise emphasize the lateral parts of the deltoid head. Make sure not to swing the weight upward and shrug the shoulders to get the dumbbells up. I see so many people who turn their palms neutral and do a move the resembles fanning a fire. Rather than the arms going straight up and down, they will swing up and back and the rear delts and rhomboids are contracting. This is incorrect.

The main thing to remember is to place your palms facing downward and keep the weight evenly placed to the side of the body as you raise upward.
